Rose PEARSON - Painter

Rose Pearson earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from York University, majoring in painting and drawing. She went on to get her education degree and taught art at the high school level in Alberta and Ontario for 12 years. She has recently resigned from teaching in the public school system but continues to mentor painters from her studio just outside of Haliburton.
Rose is an emerging visual artist who has spent the last seven years creating bodies of work for solo and group shows at public galleries across Ontario. She has been recognized by the Ontario Arts Council as a recipient of an emerging artist grant. She is also a member of the Haliburton County Studio Tour and is represented by the Ethel Curry Gallery in Haliburton.
Rose has two young boys, and it is her family life that fuels her work. Her work has been described as “joyful, rich with texture and warmth.” Works are often complicated with layers of images and details. She is currently working on a series of paintings based on a child’s silver teapot. This “Teapot Story” will be exhibited at the Chapel Gallery, Bracebridge, in August of 2010.
