Joanne COLLINS – Painter
A city girl from Toronto, Joanne’s introduction to the north came at age 4 when her parents bought a cottage in the Haliburton area. She has made her home in the district of Muskoka for over 30 years.
Her love of nature is made obvious through her romanticized view of wildlife she paints in bright cheerful acrylics.
When Joanne is not painting, she is teaching History. Her most recent works reveal her passion for both professions. Rescuing granary boards from deteriorating barns and discarded primitive cupboard doors from dusty piles, she breaths life back into them by using them as her canvas.
Preserving some relics from an old way of life and making them into beautiful pieces of art to be cherished seems like a perfect relationship to Joanne.
